@joethorley @aylapear do you use anything for traffic analytics at the moment? Asking as we might want the code for this to live within poissontemplate. :-)

We have something set up with google and poissonconsulting.ca I believe but we never check it. I don't think its a priority for us unless you or Ayla have a business or security case for looking at it?

At the moment it means there's nothing for the pkgdown websites. It's fine if you don't need it! I asked because cynkra setup instructions for pkgdown include a step related to traffic analytics so I wanted to be sure I was not missing a step for poissontemplate.

Note that another topic is GDPR :sweat_smile: (but GPDR compliant traffic monitoring things are either paid or self-hosted)

Just for info, cynkra and the tidyverse websites use https://plausible.io/about, rOpenSci uses https://matomo.org/

Thanks this is good information and makes me want to get off of google. Based on a very quick review plausible.io seems like the better option based on how lightweight and simple it is. I'll let @aylapear weigh in on when do this fits within our priorities.

We would be interested in switching to plausible for our analytics as our values align with their principals. Let us know what steps we need to take to get that going.
