task selection in "add task" is malfunctioning

when I click "Add task" on a concept page it comes up with a search box. I type in some text, and it finds matches, but it doesn't actually let me select anything from the list (e.g. by releasing the mouse as one would expect), it's as if the drop down menu is stuck.

actually this seems to be a more general problem with behavior of the drop-downs, I am also having it when I try to add a concept to a task
