Several people have reported this error when trying to access the PJS App via dotapps.io. One person reports that it has been ongoing for at least a week for them.

I have not been able to replicate it myself (located in Switzerland, using Chrome), but will share this issue with them to provide more detail.

South Korea, Chrome, Windows 10 redirect countdown proceeds normally, nothing happens, then redirects to https://dweb.link/ipns/dotapps.io/ which fails: "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN" "This site can't be reached."

Im in New York using Chrome and can't seem to replicate it myself as well. Working as expected.

Works fine in Indonesia too 😊 Maybe it is an issue with their provider/network?

@laboon Did the person specify what they were using trying to access dotapps.io ? Location, OS, browser, weather outside 😅

@mistercole apart from "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN" meaning there is an issue with the DNS server or the domain does not exist, it also could indicate unstable network issues on your end.

@piggydoughnut That would be quite surprising--I'm in my office in Seoul, South Korea, with very high speed, reliable internet (we do world wide online video classes here, sometimes with up to 200 video connections online at once. No classes are in session right now or when I tried last time).

I just tried dotapps.io again with the same result when it redirected to https://dweb.link/ipns/dotapps.io/

On edit: Tried again, M2 Macbook Air, Chrome, same outcome

On edit: I am not using a VPN

I often find that https://polkadot.js.org/apps does not load if I am connected using a VPN, so I have to disable it to access the website. Today it loaded https://polkadot.js.org/apps even though I was connected using a VPN, however when I clicked the link at the bottom of the page that took me to https://polkadot.dotapps.io/ it gave a DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE error.

It loaded after I disabled the VPN and refreshed the page.

Then when I enabled the VPN I was able to go to https://polkadot.js.org/apps and click the link to go to https://polkadot.dotapps.io without error.

But I believe that happened because of browser cache.

When I emptied the cache and hard reloaded with VPN enabled again it gave the DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE error again.

But then after waiting about a minute or so it eventually loaded https://polkadot-dotapps-io.ipns.dweb.link/.

However it always displays these errors in the browser console when it is loaded:

Screenshot 2024-10-22 at 11 02 31 AM Screenshot 2024-10-22 at 11 01 37 AM

Possibly partly related to Brave https://github.com/polkadot-js/apps/issues/10400#issue-2207764435

It always gives the 401 env-config.js error.

So I tried instead using Chrome and didn't seem to have any issues. But then I changed from connecting locally in Germany, to instead connecting to Switzerland with VPN, and then clicked the link at https://polkadot.js.org/apps to go to https://polkadot.dotapps.io/ and it opened a page with error ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED then after about a minute the the https://dotapps-io.ipns.dweb.link/#/explorer page successfully loaded.

It always gives the 401 env-config.js error using Chrome too.

dotapps.io isn't working for me either here in Japan with or without VPN, cellular or home fiber.
