Polkascan internationalization: Spanish translation

About Polkascan OS (for Polkadot Runtime Environments)

Polkascan OS provides an open-source block explorer for any Substrate-based blockchain. Polkascan OS consists of a number of distinct software artifacts which collectively orchestrate Polkascan. The Harvester transforms a Substrate node’s raw data into relational data, with the help of Substrate Interface Library and the SCALE Codec Library. The produced relational data is disseminated by the Explorer API and in turn made accessible to end-users by the Explorer GUI. We have chosen to provide full Docker support for all our artifacts, hence all our repositories have Dockerfiles in their root. All these open-source software artifacts and many others can be found in the Polkascan organization on GitHub (https://github.com/polkascan).

Internationalization of Polkascan OS Explorer GUI

The Polkascan OS Explorer GUI (https://github.com/polkascan/polkascan-pre-explorer-gui) is an Angular application. Previous work has implemented internationalization & localization standards for the Angular application. Currently the application supports the English and Chinese languages.

Additional translations of Polkascan OS Explorer GUI

This issue specifies a request to extend the Angular application with additional languages. This in turn will make Polkascan OS available and user-friendly to a worldwide audience in multiple languages and with multiple localization settings.

Spanish translation for the Angular application.

Please note that some values have already been set in the Spanish language-pack. These are machine translations and very likely require modification and thorough review.
Written memo (in English) to explain why translated terms or transliterations were chosen for specific technical notions and terminology. Ideally this memo provides a reference to other places where similar translated terms or transliterations were chosen. I.e. how would the term extrinsic be translated?

Skills

Spanish language native.
Conceptual understanding of Blockchain, Polkadot and Substrate.
Capable of translation or transliteration of technical notions and terminology.
Our preference goes to a current Polkadot Ambassador.

Getting started with Docker

Run in a browser (e.g. Firefox): http://127.0.0.1:8000

Select the Spanish language on the top-right side of the screen.
Make modifications in the Spanish language pack (src\assets\i18n\es.json)
Refresh in browser to check modifications

Cleanup Docker

use with caution

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been working on other projects and forgot to update here, I did not abandon this, I just set it as a lower priority based on expiration.

I have some updates. I already forked the repository installed docker image on my Linux VM and started the translation, I have been using some reference for the translation, as it is technical I needed to know how are terms being translated in other projects.

I will set up a counter on the total of entries / translated entries from .json file and will update on this number if this is a good strategy on updates for you. For some translations, I am doing some research in order to translate them correctly, these will take more time.

Note: gitcoin bot emails were being tagged as FORUM on my Gmail account and I was testing new tabs and did not realize there were so many notifications on this. Sorry for the delay. I deactivated this Gmail feature, I don't think I will have this problem again.

Question: Have the English keys been written by a native English speaker? Because I am seeing a lot of English keys that don't seem to be good English, at least the ones on the es.json file.

Still working on this. Please update if there is some kind of deadline for this, or what are your expectations so I know what priority to set this on, I am translating on a daily basis, but there are a lot of entries on this file.

I have just finished translating the keys for the es.json dictionary I want to state that this job needs to be reviewed by me again with more detail. The reason is the following, I am a professional copywriter with experience in copywriting I really value my work, and I worked for world-known brands in the past. While doing this task, I had to keep reading the Polkadot wiki, there the Spanish translation is at 1% complete, so I had to do a double job here. I tried to do a good job, but even the English keys are very inconsistent. There are many places were something is spelled with capital letters then with small caps, then there are many places where I was not sure if I was translating a token or a word. I am testing this now on my VM. I will try to submit two times one now and one again after finishing this test the running VM. Thank you for the wait.

I am having some trouble testing this, I set everything right as instructed, but the option to change the language to Spanish is not appearing on the master branch on my VM, also some languages maybe Asian and Russian are not rendering properly. I set to look at the app.component.ts file and es is not listed as a language option there, maybe I need to change this and add it?

UPDATE: Editing the file app.component.ts and adding the es to the array langs on line 13 solves this problem and Español is now appearing on the language menu, and everything is working fine.

Ok, today I will be fixing some mistakes I made on the Menu navbar. And today August 1st some other things up. And I hope I can finish by the end of the day to be on time with my promise.

Btw I already made a PR but it has some mistakes I need to fix on the Navbar, and some terms like runtime that were correctly translated in some parts and not on others. Please read the notes on the PR regarding terms like extrinsics

@federicosan We are experiencing delays with payouts due to insane GAS fees on the Ethereum network. If we would process your payment right now, the transaction would cost $563 USD.

hey @Web3Foundation typically when a txn is going to error, metamask will show a very very high gas fee.. i think thast why you're getting that estimate. can you make sure it's being submitted via 0xd9d21d54fb2bf93afc62a7115a2518682a50508b and that the account has enough $$$ for gas (0.02 ETH should suffice) and try again?
