Link to the original issue: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/polkit/polkit/-/issues/207 Would be nice for the project to have a simple website to point people to releases, and syphoon contributions. I've created a prototype here and would be happy to lend a hand in making it happen if there's interest.

Hello,
your prototype looks appealing.
However, in these days it is quite non-standard and since Gitlab, GitHub and other VCS services use README.md as a landing page, which we already have, obviously, why not to keep this introductory information as close to the source code as possible? Also, Gitlab as is provides link to the releases in the side panel, just as there is a direct link in the README file (old tarballs included).

There used to be a page dedicated to polkit project on FD.o site, but in the end the intention was to move away from this concept.

What I've said here is only my opinion and I believe this is a nice subject to discuss. Having said that, I'd downvote this issue, because despite how visually pleasing and less "techy" the proposed site is, I find it too impractical. If there's something you feel is missing from README and should be mentioned, please, don't hesitate to say it here, in a new issue or in any other way :)

In any case, many thanks for this!
