Reduces difference in emoji react code with polyam flavour.

I originally intended to work on the emoji react feature in the polyam flavour and just periodically merge the upstream PR for the glitch flavour, but some of the changes in the upstream PR are puzzling and I like my own code better.

I probably missed some differences, but I don't want to go through them file by file, because the flavours have significant differences.
