Sydney polyhack session - lunch, hack, then dinner and drinks.

Hey guys,

Which Sydneysider polyhackers would be up for a hack session one Saturday, after Easter? I was thinking it might follow what we do in Melbourne sometimes - find a good place for lunch, then head to a cafe/hack space for the afternoon and see what happens in the evening.

The main thing is to find a good hack space for the Saturday afternoon. Any suggestions?

I think Rob Howard, Michael Neale and myself are keen right now. Anyone else interested?

O yeh, if we can become organised enough we could maybe time it so it could coincide with a Melbourne hack session on the same afternoon (see SomeoneWeird's idea - https://github.com/polyhack/helloworld/issues/4).

location suggestions: sweenys - rooftop or level below (both have some power sockets). Harts pub - likewise - has some rooms with powersockets (less though).

Shirt bar does - for sure - but would need to check its opening times and general busy-ness on the weekend.

Hey guys,

May 3rd is this Saturday. How about we meet somewhere for lunch then find a place to sit down and hack? It might come to tethering - @cgiffard and I have been trying to find nice, free hackspaces in Surry Hills and our conclusion was that it'd be better to find a comfortable place and tether. We can share tethering and chip in perhaps.

Any suggestions of (a) a good place to eat lunch (somewhere central) and (b) a nice environment to hack in on Saturday arvo?

I would likely be there a bit after lunch - depending on time of lunch.

My suggestions: Sweenys (rooftop or level below) as has power sockets (power is also important) - near town hall station. I have a wifi dongle I can share with some reasonable limit on it.

For lunch suggestions:

Excellent ramen in humble surrounds: Ramen Ikku (indoor foor plaza in china town) - it will likely be cool and wet so indoors good.

Excellent broad chinese range of food: Chefs Gallery - near town hall (and sweenys).

Mexican: Excelsior hotel Surry hills (near central station, but a walk from there to sweenys).

• Albion Place Hotel (George St, near cinemas)
• Edinburgh Hotel (Bathurst St, three blocks from Sweeney's)

(Or the Belgian Bier Cafe if you feel like a Rather Fancy pub.)

Due to a complete lack of planning or any organisation skills on my part this is now two days away... I'll likely be in the city about 1pm and will find somewhere to sit and hack on things.

If Saturday doesn't work, we could try for later in the month.

Hey @thepatrick - I don't think we're going ahead with it. What we are doing is grabbing a beer tomorrow at 5 pm at Red Oak in Sydney. I think pretty much everyone who has responded is coming along. Can you make it?
