Merge current state of gateway into main #50

The gateway branch is not yet fully featured. However, it already contains a lot of commits that also change other parts of symfonia. Therefore, I'd like to merge the current state of gateway into main, to keep main up to date.

Checks fail, but that's just because the CI needs to be changed to accommodate use of the query!() macro.
