gene quick links /interface improvements #202

ok so, after having transferred an annotation it is a bit annoying having to click on 'summary' to then go into the gene that the annotation was transferred to to add an extension or whatever.

I think it would be neater if: -you would always stay on the gene page for the gene that is being annotated (after adding annotation or extension etc) i.e. no re-direction to the summary page at all unless the link is clicked -have quicklinks to the right for the other genes in the paper, like on the pombase gene pages (there is a large margin on the right anyway that isn't used)

would this be possible?

Yes that would be quite neat. Antonia is asking for a little vertical list of the "other genes" on the invividual gene pages (instead of the change gene button). It would save an additional page visit every time you change genes (and you change gene many more times than there are genes when you do a paper as you do things usually in the order they are reported) . You would only need to go back to the change gene page to add a new gene.

and stay on the same gene page. I probably orinally requested the current behaviour but it can be annoying (it might make more sense when you transfer annotations to multiple genes), but Antonias suggestion is better default behaviour.

Yes for community curation, having lots of stuff on the page is a distraction and makes the "funneling" to the next task less clear.

Maybe hold fire on this for now, and we will continue to think about the advantages. It would certainly be a little speed up for cutrators.

One option is to have this only for curators.

We now have an "Advanced" mode. We could add a list of genes on the side quite easily if it help navigation.

Antonai I'm closing this as I think its probably obsolete. If there is anything you would still like could you open a new ticket? Thanks
