  1. This count also looks a bit odd, Val? I would assume that number conserved in fungi will be ≤eukaryotes but cdc2: conserved in fungi

Yeah, there are quite a lot of proteins, which when I did this, were only present in pombe (but no other fungi) and metazoa, like this one:

So there really was no broad fungal conservation. Now there are japonicus and octospous for many.

Others I need to fix.....

Also on my todo list. Need to see if we can extend any of the fungal-specific families. More interesting if conserved to vertbrates. Speak to Jurg about this, might be a student project for UCl as will impact his "unknowns". Also looking for S. cerevisiae orthologs for those which only hit a few fungi.
