GO:0098772 annotations - cdc8, cyh1, bit61, rlc1 (Waiting for approprriate MF terms) #2933

The cdc8 annotation to GO:0098772 is being flagged by the GO checks because the term is marked do-not-annotate:

WARNING - Violates GO Rule: GORULE:0000008: No annotations should be made to uninformatively high level terms -- PomBase SPAC27F1.02c cdc8 GO:0098772 PMID:12796476 IDA F tropomyosin fus4 protein taxon:4896 20200317 PomBase has_input(PomBase:SPAC1F5.04c)

May be waiting for a new term (GO ticket 19107?).

got it, yes that is why "PMID:12796476"

@pgaudet and I planned to look at the actin related terms at some point soonish so that can sit in the logs for now.

mah11 commented 3 years ago

Does the same apply to ryh1 and bit61 annotations to the same term from PMID:21035342? (They've turned up in the snapshot report now too.)

ValWood commented 3 years ago

Yes these are related to https://github.com/geneontology/go-ontology/issues/18749 I don't there is a term to describe the activity of a GTPase as a signal transducer component.

I can't say GTPase has_input protein because that is incorrect.

@vanaukenk do you have a Noctua model I can look at to see how you have connected GTPases in signalling pathways?

For rlc1 Pascale suggested motor activity regulator activity (GO:0140659), but also noted the outstanding question about regulatory subunits.

ValWood commented 3 years ago

fixed rlc1, although I suspect this will probably need re-re-visiting at some point..

ValWood commented 3 years ago

do this when revisting cdc8

Actin polymerized by For3p is decorated with unacetylated Cdc8p, whereas actin polymerized by Cdc12p is decorated with acetylated Cdc8p (Coulton et al., 2010).
