Add ability to read files that don't end in .dcm #5

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Read a directory full of DICOM files without the .dcm extension

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
UI doesn't read the files.

According to a thread on the pydicom discussion group ( 
http://groups.google.com/group/pydicom/browse_thread/thread/acb86a9facd4afa ), 
this can be 
resolved.
