Dates not matching with original mail #31

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use google uploader to upload all mails in a pst file in outlook
2. use outlook on another machine configured on IMAP to synchronize the
mails
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The dates in the uploaded mails in google mail show correctly dating back
to whenever the mail was sent or received.
However when outlook is synchronized in IMAp on another machine all those
mails show as received on the date of the upload instead of the original
date

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista business

Please provide any additional information below.

I am facing the exact same issue.

One more Issue I am facing is in Gmail Web Interface it is showing in Sent
Items the following : "To: me" for all
uploaded emails, rather than name of people I sent them to.

I have the exact same issue. Has there been any resolution proposed from Google
in
this regard?

1. I used the Google email uploader to select a few test folders from my native
Outlook PST file for import. I imported those files to through the uploader
with 4
errors in 180 messages.

2. I reviewed the messages within Gmail Apps and the message dates display
correctly.

3. The IMAP connection from my computer to to those same uploaded folders now in
Gmail displays the received date as the date and time of upload; not the
original
date nor what Gmail is displaying.

As a workaround, I uploaded a few test folders from an Outlook PST file via
drag and
drop into my IMAP connected GMail folders and the dates were partially uploaded
correctly, meaning that some of the information was retained in transfer adn
then
back again through the IMAP connection, but not all of it.

Thoughts?

I have not verified the secondary issue reported by the second poster.

Same problem here. All received dates in gmail web interface are fine. However
now I
have pulled them in to Outlook 2007 the received dates all show the time up
upload to
gmail.?
Any fixes?

I have the exact same problem, also using Office 2007 on Vista Business, and
Google
Apps Mail.

This is an issue that should be fixed soon - the email uploader's purpose is to
move
an email archive to GMail.... but the archive appears to be corrupted under the
IMAP
view on the data.

It's probably not a problem in GMail itself but in how the IMAP server pulls
out the
data from GMail, since the time stamps in the GMail web interface are correct.

Google... please fix! Thanks.

Same here. See Issue 51 for details. These issues should be merged.

This issue has been around for almost a year! This is horrible! Please merge
this
with issue 51 and fix this problem!

Same problem here. As a temporary workaround, I've set Outlook to sort by the
sent
field.

To do this in Outlook 2007: Right click the arranged header, choose "custom",
select "Sort..." and change "Sort items by" to Sent. You have to do this for
every
imap folder.

How this issue can mantain its "New" state after 18 months?

Even though its a total pain, I found a work around. Using IMAP with Gmail and,
say, Thunderbird, will show the correct dates/times within Thunderbird, but not
on webmail. So I created a second test gmail account, added a few old messages,
and had the same issue. However, if I then set through webmail to FORWARD these
old messages to my actual gmail account, it will have the correct dates. Why? I
have no idea.

I apply this tool to my boss (CEO) at his first time migration. I'm so happy
this tool is so simplified my job. After running the tool for 3 full days on
his machine, all his e-mails (hundreds K) are migrated. And finally he found
all his e-mails are received in same day. Guess what happened to me!!!
