Support for more achive formats, add here requests #19

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Please add here formats you would like to be supported by PeaZip.
Ideal candidates are not encumbered by patents and have working Open Source
implementation both of compressor and extractor.
Preference goes to cross-platform implementations, in order to keep PeaZip for
Windows and for Linux as similar as possible in terms of supported formats.

Hi, thanks for reporting.
If it is possible, it would be useful to add reference websites for the
format's specifications and possibly copyright note.
As stated in the original post, ideal candidates should not be encumbered by
patents, and should preferably feature working open source implementation,
possibly at least both for Windows and Linux in order to keep the two ports of
PeaZip the more aligned as possible under the featured formats' point of view.

Thanks for suggesting, but for keeping the thread as tidy as possible in order
to make it in an useful reasource for all users, I would suggest to:
- Check if a format is already supported before submitting, i.e. .iso, .arj,
and .lha are supported since long time ago. If there are specific problem with
a file in one of these formats you cannot open, please report how can I get the
file in order to test it.
- Check if a format was already requested (i.e .nrg in issue 2, 12 and 13).

BinHEX format : from macintosh to PC by email, grrrr
!
See : http://www.macdisk.com/binhexen.php3
No extension for this format, you have to look at the head of the file content.
There is a tool named DeBinHEX which "converts".
