Consider use of CMake for build system #8

CMake would allow developers to choose their build system/IDE they use to
build unladen-swallow. What say you?

Is anyone on the project familiar with CMake?

This is something jyasskin and bcannon have been kicking around with moving
CPython
to CMake, but I don't know that they've actually tried it yet. They can comment
more.

I'm hoping to try out cmake for CPython at PyCon (in the next 2 days). If it
works
out, and CPython adopts it, we'll adopt it too. If not, we won't. The build
system is
simply not part of our mandate, and fixing it just for Unladen Swallow wouldn't
be
worth the gratuitous difference from CPython.

If you're enthusiastic about this, try it out and post to python-ideas.

Quite right. This is definitely something that CPython would have to sign off
on first.
