Default repos that come with 1.18.7 install don't work #361

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Download the 1.18.7 package
2.Run it
3.Will get error:

Error: Initializing / Downloading the remote repositories and filling the local
database: Error loading the repository
https://windows-package-manager.googlecode.com/hg/repository/Rep.xml: XML
parsing error at line 2, column 12: unexpected character

I ended up modifying the repo list to:

http://npackd.appspot.com/rep/xml?tag=libs
http://npackd.appspot.com/rep/xml?tag=stable
http://npackd.appspot.com/rep/xml?tag=stable64
http://npackd.appspot.com/rep/xml?tag=unstable

as a workaround. Not sure if I was supposed to do this.

Overall great program. I use it in all 3 of my windows installs. Great install
experience. Thanks

thank you. There seems to be a problem with the code.google.com infrastructure.
I filed an issue: https://code.google.com/p/support/issues/detail?id=32591 .
The repositories you used instead contain the same data. This is the best
workaround right now.

If I can make a casual suggestion: npackd seems to be a really good program
that you've put a lot of time into.

Perhaps you should considering registering npackd dot com, creating a subdomain
for the repo XML files, and redirecting the subdomain host in case they go down?

You could just change the host of repo dot npackd dot com in DNS if your host
goes down.

Cheers

Hello gtorreggiani,

Access to the default Npackd repositories is broken since May 19, 2014. Please
use these repositories permanently instead (please delete all spaces around the
addresses):

https://npackd.appspot.com/rep/xml?tag=stable64
https://npackd.appspot.com/rep/xml?tag=libs
