@dessHub yes this is true, but more importantly is that you could have a smartphone but don't have internet access/resource to buy bandwith/bundles
@WinnieMakokha sure
It would be awesome if the user could go through a gamified activity where they would read short snippets of law around protection of children from abuse before moving on to a next level. It could be in the form of a ladder where they gain more points as they answer more questions.
@Its-me-judy that could be implemented on web and android app . then ussd can serve as reporting and registration platform
Thank you @dessHub just as @WinnieMakokha explained we would wish to design an application that will not require internet for the key features. (Can we deliberate on this more) Being the first participant to create an issue Jilinde, would you be willing to join me create this application as one of the contributors. Am looking for developers and designers plus think tanks who I can collaborate with in this Application. You having the ussd integration idea and is something we would wish to share on the latter stages is awesome. Then this digs up the following issues: Create Registration Form. Link Registration Form to Database Create/Generate Call ID Send Notification per Call ID Design Tracker Chart Generate a Tracker Chart Generate a mapper Chart
@dessHub Am using Ionic framework to come up with a Minimum Viable Product.
@pomochieng I will be glad to contribute. Will share prototype when ready.
@dessHub you will be getting constant briefs on the progress in the same channel
@dessHub what is your take on creating an app that will not require internet for key features and can also be used on ussd platform yet the same sequence of reporting can be acquired at the back end - this is in relation to a Toll free number or local numbers, bearing in mind the cost implication.
Perhaps intergrating voicememo would be applicable. IMO, voicememo would provide the dial-up number which the victim would dial. The call, through voicememo, could be routed to the pertinent organisation i.e. the nearest police station, paramedic services, etc. I am not sure as to whether the USSD could redirect the caller automatically, but provision of the number to call would be useful still
Thank you @giantas That is a good piece of information, what is the response time?
what is the response time?
The response time is dependent upon the call picker (e.g. at the hospital, etc)
Is there any cost implication for this service
There is a cost plan attached to voicememo services. The main advantage is that voicememo will handle the call routing to the relevant office. Also, the cost will only be applied to one number as assigned by voicememo.
@giantas With Gender cases, each and every town has a gender desk at the police station, imagine more than 100 different numbers. is that not expensive, the routing part is perfect.
The cost is one-sided, only the caller will be charged. The various offices will not be charged. This cost may be subsidised through partnerships and collaborations.
I am not sure as to whether the USSD could redirect the caller automatically, Its possible , though i hvnt implemented voicememo before
In my opinion, ussd would be viable compared to mobile or web based app since it will be most available to people who dont use internet and smartphones.
