The notification picture and icon are provided by the app that created it. The
Large notification style is the exact notification that was built and provided
by the app itself.
There is no easy way to change this and it can be very different from app to
other app.

I second this request. I much prefer to see the app icon instead of the contact
pic. That way I know exactly what kind of notification it is.

1. If you want to see just the app icon you can use a compact notification
style.
2. The other styles shows exactly the same icon the appears on the original
notification on the status bar and it is controlled by the app who created it.
3. There is a known exception on Facebook notifications - that doesn't display
contact information on the widget although it appears on the original
notification on the status bar, but unfortunately this cannot be fixed.
NiLS doesn't have permissions to your contact list, facebook account, etc..
therefore cannot retrieve other information beside what the app provided in the
notification.
