How did you upgrade to 21.10? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

Upgraded from 21.04 to 21.10 using the upgrade instructions provided here

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):

General desktop usage

Issue/Bug Description: When running my 1440p 144Hz monitor in 60 Hz mode, the Applications grid works as expected. The Applications grid immediately stops working (entire screen is grey with no icons) when I switch the display to 144Hz mode, and it resolves when I switch it back to 60Hz mode.

I tested this with both my existing user account (existed before upgrading to 21.10 Beta), as well as a temporary test account. Both accounts exhibited identical behaviour.

Steps to reproduce (if you know): When in 60Hz mode: Click Applications, you see the Application grid. When in 144Hz mode: Click Applications, see a sea of grey

Expected behavior: Working application grid at all screen resolutions and refresh rates.

Thanks for the report! This sounds like a duplicate of https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/1894, although it's interesting that changing the refresh rate can induce it. Can you mention that in https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/1894, along with info about your graphics card?

I'll close this as a duplicate of https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/1894
