No "Upgrade" button when new device firmware is available, under Firmware in Settings #247

How did you upgrade to 21.10? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

Upgraded from 21.04

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):

Firmware in Settings (behavior just seen in GUI, so unsure of which package is causing it).

Issue/Bug Description: It lists a new Device Firmware, but there is no green "Update" button as I've seen on System76 descriptions of the feature.

Steps to reproduce (if you know): Just go to Firmware in Settings while there's an available device firmware upgrade

Expected behavior: See, be able to click on green "Upgrade" button

Other Notes: Let me know if the device for which the firmware is available, what version it is, is necessary info.

Hey @juanejot! The upgrade button should only show if there is an update available. Just to be sure would you mind attaching a screenshot showing the change log?

For example, Screenshot from 2021-10-19 08-43-41

Thank you, @13r0ck! Shall I take it then, that the firmware upgrade listed is one that has already been installed? This is not, as your example is, running on a System76 system; but on a DIY 9700K/RX580 tower, with, in this case, a mouse/keyboard receiver. I hope since "The vulnerability […] would require a hacker to be physically close to a target" means I'm safe to post it here. 😉 Screenshot from 2021-10-19 15-45-24

Yep, it looks like that device is up-to-date. The version number (RQR12.11_B0032) matches the latest version number shown in the changelog. Also, that changelog message means that the vulnerability it mentions has been fixed and is no longer a problem.

Oh good; I’ll remember for future interaction with the firmware manager interface that no green “Update” button just means you’re up to date, and the text shows the latest update already installed. Thanks!
