"micro stuttering/freezing" in wayland on pop desktop #282

How did you upgrade to 21.10? (Fresh install / Upgrade) Upgraded from 21.04

Issue/Bug Description: when running pop desktop in wayland, there are "micro stutters", mouse and apps will momentarily "freeze". it is very noticeable.

Steps to reproduce (if you know): either wake up while running in wayland or use desktop for a few hours.

Expected behavior: smooth running, no freezing/stuttering.

Other Notes: I have a laptop very similar in specifications to the system76 pagolin (the first gen one, with a 4700u cpu), 16gb of ram and a 1 tb nvme drive.

Thank you for trying the beta. Just to confirm, your laptop has AMD graphics, and the issue does not happen in an X session?

Yes, it has the amd 4700u with the vega graphics

I haven't noticed the issue is X, but my laptop is unable to "wake up" when using X, which i saw there was already a ticket for.
