2 years ago They do persist. I am pretty sure this one has the Intel + AMD Radeon R9 M370X. https://support.apple.com/kb/SP719?locale=en_US is where I got the model from. I can double check the exact build a little later.

I decided to try reinstalling from USB on this machine and even the live environment has the problem with the non-graphics drive installer.
lspci says the video card is “[AMD/ATI] Venus XT [Radeon HD 8870M / R9 M270X/M370X] (rev 83).
I’ll try with the AMD installer next

How did you upgrade to 21.10? (Fresh install / Upgrade)
Was on beta, ran apt full-upgrade, then ran updates from pop shop, and also tried refresh is after letting the image update.
Issue/Bug Description:
the mostly white background and white box started after the full-upgrade. Nothing changed with additional updating.
Expected behavior:
No giant white areas.
Other Notes:
Other apps can open and look right.
