Memory Leak #987

I seem to be experiencing some sort of memory leak with cosmic-comp.

This has happened twice in the last few weeks and eventually leads to cosmic-comp consuming all available RAM. In the last 15 minutes I have watched the used memory percentage in htop go from 30.7% to 31.6% and it continues to climb. I initially started investigating the issue because cosmic-launcher was taking a long time (2-3s) to appear after hitting Super.

Quick follow up: I logged out & back in again, then sat watching cosmic-settings pinning 2+ CPUs at 100% and rapidly consuming memory (~0.2% per second).

The cosmic-settings issue should probably be made in https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-settings and I can recreate it when I log out with the settings app still open after using the Displays page at some point.

Thanks, I think they are most likely separate issues, so it would be good to create an issue there too.
