Can't paste selected text via middle click or 3 fingers tap

In most programs it's possible to copy some text just selecting it and then pasting it using the mouse mid click or 3 fingers tap on the touchpad, which in many cases it's much faster then using the classic Ctrl+c/Ctrl+v or menu copy/paste options.

At the moment this doesn't work with Cosmic Editor. I hope it's a bug and not a feature... because I use it almost all the time! 😁

This feature never works. Either when selecting/pasting text inside Cosmic Editor or when selecting text from other software or vice versa.

• This feature works fine with other programs on Cosmic Desktop (Cosmic Terminal, Libre Office, Firefox text fields, Gnome terminal/editor...). I've just found a similar problem with Helix Editor, where the feature works as long I select and paste some text inside Helix. It doesn't work when selecting text from other programs or from Helix to another program. This was related to the missing wl-clipboard package
• No problems when using Ctr+c/Ctrl+v or menu options to copy/paste.

Quick update, I've discovered that this behavior of Helix editor was due to the missing wl-clipboard package. At the moment I don't have any Cosmic installation but I have tried to install wl-clipboard on a Cosmic live session. It fixes the Helix issue but unfortunately it doesn't fix the Cosmic Editor issue. The two issues appear to be unrelated.
