Cursor Scaling issue #1191

I have an issue and I don't even know how to start describing it. I have a 1440p monitor along with my 1080p laptop screen. In some applications the cursor is significantly larger than it should be on both displays, and it gets more disproportionate the further down or up I move the monitor placement in relation to the other monitor. I also tried both scaling and native scaling for x11 applications, but as the apps this affects aren't all x11, it didn't seem to make a difference. I assume this has something to do with the displays having different resolutions, as setting the monitor to be 1080p to match and then lining them up in settings fixes the issue.

I attached pictures, as I don't know how to get a screenshot with the mouse cursor shown with cosmic-screenshot. PXL_20241028_183955832 PXL_20241028_184040776

Edit: I also use 100% scaling on both monitors if that would make a difference.

Seems related to this https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-comp/issues/817

It does seem related, but it is just really odd to me that it changes based on the positioning of the monitors in relation to each other. It makes no sense.

Edit: The workaround in that post did work though! after adding the correct line to /etc/environment the cursor is now correct.
