This already exists (Context menu > Desktop view options...), but you currently have to log out and log in for it to apply.
Padding for icons if there's a panel/dock. Right now I have a top panel that I've had to (temporarily) move to the bottom, because desktop icons are in the way:
It's a known issue.
A slider/number in settings for determining icon size.
This is planned (see https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-files/issues/547#issuecomment-2393989607).
Transparency for fonts on the desktop. Right now, applications have a solid color highlight for the font (sometimes the application icon as well).
This is also planned (by using shadows).
