[App Crash] Google earth crashing at start on COSMIC #355

Open marciosr opened 4 months ago

Google Earth Pro from flathub repository crashes at start on COSMIC at Fedora Silverblue 39. There was no back trace on coredumpctl. crashlog-66527669.txt

Google earth works normally on GNOME session.

I don't know if this is the write place to put this issue, so let me know how to do it better.

Hmm debugging this without any more information is tricky, and the pro-app is closed source afaik.

Can you potentially run it with WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 set and post the results?

marciosr commented 4 months ago

I dit that. If I run with wayland socket disabled (just x11 and fallback-x11 enabled nothing changes). Enabling wayland socket, those messages are shown wayland-socked-enabled.txt Thanks!

Drakulix commented 4 months ago

Looks like google-earth doesn't support xwayland, so this might be an Xwayland issue.

Are you running on pop-os? We have/had(?) some issue with older versions of Xwayland right now.

marciosr commented 4 months ago

Yes, is a legacy application. I'm using Fedora Silverblue 39. COSMIC desktos from copr repository ryanabx/cosmic-epoch

Difficult to tell then what is causing this problem. I'll do my own testing as soon as I got the time, thanks for reporting and providing all these infos!

marciosr commented 4 months ago

I'll be testing the rpm version of Google Earth to see if there is something to do with packaging ou sandboxing.

RPM version doesn't work neither.
