Cannot interact with app pop up windows --- sometimes #966

I have noticed in several of my daily driving applications that I cannot interact with lesser menus that appear as a separate pop up.

For instance, in PyCharm version details provided, Pycharm.txt when I go to make a new file, I cannot type in the new file name. I have tried different keyboards and nothing has worked. I am stuck with this new file menu that I cannot engage with.

I also experienced this today with Zoom (flatpak). I could not close the pop up windows that appeared after Zoom crashed.

However, for other apps with pop up windows, like saving a txt file in cosmic text editor, I have no issues.

This mostly appears in proprietary applications, so maybe its a problem with one of their dependencies.

I may have to switch back to gnome for now given how disruptive this has been to my workflow. But, overall, well done! Cosmic looks great! I can't wait to daily drive it!

This issue needs to tackled. Almost all JetBrains based IDE pop-ups glitch in COSMIC DE

This also happens to menus that render outside the main window extent. For example if the Signal context menu decides to render outside the window extent then you can't interact with it. If it renders inside the window extent then it works fine.

I came here to report the same thing (i.e. pop up windows for new files/folders ignore all keyboard input) with PHPStorm and RustRover, so most likely all JetBrains IDEs would be affected.

That fixed the problem in IntelliJ IDEA 2024.2.3. Thx!

I can confirm this fix works in PHPStorm and RustRover. Thanks @MichelJonkman !
