(Adding Tilix to the long list :-) )
I'd like to suggest an approach where any cosmic window should has its visibility toggled by a general key shortcut. (like : bind a key to a visibility-toggle window by-id or by-process name ?)
Then, add a --geometry
like option for first launch, maybe give windows unique names and allow to toggle their visibility ...
Would such a suggestion belong to cosmic-comp repo ?
As a result you could have a quake-like popup-window behavior for terminals too.
It not Quake, it's Guake It's not draw-down, it's drop down
It's Guake, and it's a Quake-like drop down terminal (let's honor the brave game that gave its name to all this ... no comment on my age please :) )
It's be great to be able to toggle a full-screen or draw-down-from-top terminal whenever the user presses a keyboard shortcut (or clicks terminal button in system tray)
It could include options such as: transparency; fade transition; vertical size; hide on clicking outside vs always on top
iTerm2, Guake, Yakuake and Terminator have this convenient functionality. Drop-down examples:
