Distribution (run cat /etc/os-release): NAME="Pop!_OS" VERSION="22.04 LTS" ID=pop ID_LIKE="ubuntu debian" PRETTY_NAME="Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS" VERSION_ID="22.04" HOME_URL="https://pop.system76.com" SUPPORT_URL="https://support.system76.com" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues" PRIVACY_POLICY_URL="https://system76.com/privacy" VERSION_CODENAME=jammy UBUNTU_CODENAME=jammy LOGO=distributor-logo-pop-os

Issue/Bug Description: When on Workspace pop-os/pop#1, I use the default (/stock) screenshot tool "Take a screenshot", nothing happens, only when I go to a different workspace, let's say workspace pop-os/pop#2, the screenshot UI pops up on that workspace and not on the workspace I opened the application from.

ALSO, the screenshot hotkey works fine for me.

Steps to reproduce (if you know): Open the stock screenshot application for the Application Launcher

Expected behavior: The screenshot UI pops up on the correct workspace

Other Notes: I hope this is the correct repo to file this issue on

I can confirm this appears to be broken from watching the reporter's screen share. I believe they also mentioned this issue seems to persist despite reinstalling.

@pushfoo I do not see a screenshare in the issue description. Where are you seeing that?

The Take a screenshot button in the Applications menu doesn't seem to work at all for me right now. I want to clarify that there is no Take a screenshot button in the Launcher, which is why there's an open feature request to add that: https://github.com/pop-os/launcher/issues/107

Ah, I see. After selecting this shortcut from the Applications menu, it's not just "going to a different workspace" that makes the screenshot interface appear, it's opening the Workspaces menu and then exiting it on a different workspace. (I.e. you won't see the interface appear if you use touchpad gestures or keyboard shortcuts.)

Sorry about that, this was during a live screen share in the Pop!_OS discord server. I had trouble understanding what the reporter meant until they replicated it in the call's screenshare.

I think I have a bit more detail on the actual problem.

Here is what I see:

  1. Open show Applications.
  2. search for the screenshot app and click it; nothing happens
  3. Click the workspaces menu or use Super D
  4. Select a workspace.

After selecting the workspace, the screen shot UI appears on the selected workspace.

Hope this helps.

gnome-screenshot no longer works. pressing "print screen" button used to take a screenshot of all my screens at once...pressing "shift+print screen" used to bring up a selection indicator that would take the shot of whatever I selected....now....nothing.....nothing at all happens.

Is there a fix for this? I am seeing the same thing.
