Some icons not being applied to applications #13

Reporter info

Issue The icons from the pop os theme are not being correctly applied to some applications. I have noticed this on dconf and gnome tweak tool for now. I ran sudo nautilus and changed the icon from /usr/share/applications to the one from the theme is /usr/share/icons but this fix only worked for gnome tweak tool. Dconf is still showing its default icon. I have restarted gnome shell, rebooted and the icon persists in dconf.desktop but is not applied when looking at the dashboard.

Expected behaviour Apply all the correct images and icons to installed applications

Behaviour in Adwaita All icons applied

Other Note (feature-request, question, etc...)

Any heads up on how to fix this - I'm happy to do some coding/tweaking myself to help solve the issue. Thanks!

Here's the icon that shows: screenshot from 2018-07-12 09-44-27

And here's the applications setting:

Per #21 we won't be including upstream application icons in future releases. We'll have another look at this issue once that has taken place.

So, basically, you’re reverting the visual consistency of the operating system because “upstreams?” Upstreams are an implementation detail. Inconsistency is the #1 problem on desktop Linux today – it’s sad to see a step backwards on addressing it. People using the operating system are not going to see upstreams’ branding being respected, they’re going to see an inconsistent interface and go back to using macOS.

@isantop upstream application icon replacements are meant to be in the Pop-Extra theme, if we need to remove them by default.
