This looks good on 21.10, but something weird is going on with 20.04. After adding the testing branch, pop-installer is kept back when I try to upgrade it. If I run a full-upgrade, it pulls in libgranite6 and distinst-v2: 2022-01-03_17-17_1

After that, the installer starts looking quite broken: 2022-01-03_17-19

Maybe we should test the installer on the master branch or something. I don't see how this PR could cause those breaks

@leviport I tried pulling in just master, and I see the same regression as you without this PR. What you found isn't a regression from this PR, but something that was merged before.
