Same issue @vycoder, If i close the laptop lid and open it again, screen goes blank and keypad light also goes off and can't do anything after that unless i force reboot the machine. Due to this whatever i had worked on get lost and I have had to restart and do it again. That's very troublesome for me..
This is the system i am using (https://www.mi.com/in/product/xiaomi-notebook-pro/), and here is some more info and feel free to tag me and ask if you need any additional info:

Issue/Bug Description: Stuck on black screen after boot when laptop lid is closed. I have my laptop configured to auto power on AC, connected to an external monitor tucked away under my desk (connected to a laptop fan). That's how I've been using my machine for years on Pop.
A few weeks ago it suddenly stopped booting into the login manager. It's just a blank screen with a cursor blinking. The only way I can make it work is by booting the laptop while the laptop lid is opened, once I'm in, I then close the laptop lid and everything works like usual.
I've tried re-installing the login manager and nvidia drivers (like what was stated in the support docs) but none of it works.
