Compared to 47x, 49x didn't install libnvidia-extra-495:i386
(I installed it by hand just to be sure). Might be missing OpenGL package libnvidia-ifr1-470
as well. Now rebooting to validate install.
In order:
Scream test succesful.

We've found a strange bug with this driver update. If we launch Steam through a terminal, it works just fine. However, if we launch Steam with the pop-shell launcher or from the applications view, a Steam process is spawned that takes no resources, never launches a Steam window, and prevents Steam from actually being launched until the process is killed.
We saw this bug on 3 different switchable graphics machines (oryp6, gaze15, and addw2), on both 21.10 and 21.04. It only happens if they are in Nvidia or Hybrid graphics modes. Integrated remained unaffected, and the issue did not seem to happen on serw12, which is full-time Nvidia.
Workaround for the switchable graphics machines.
There is an issue with the PrefersNonDefaultGPU
setting in the .desktop file. Setting this variable to true via the command line also causes the issue.
Removing this variable (or setting it to false) will allow Steam to start up on my gaze15 in Hybrid and Nvidia modes.
This appears to be an upstream issue with Steam. I've created an issue on their gihub page here.
495.44 has released!
@cybik I am preparing for it now. It is more likely we will release 470.82 first, though.
