Minecraft sprint/jump delay #1190

Pop OS 20.04

Minecraft

When pressing control and w to sprint, there is a delay of about 1 second until you start running. When doing this with the spacebar held down, the spacebar either never activates or you jump in place for a second.

Press W and control at the same time and you wont move for one second, press control, w, and space and you either never jump or jump in place

Im supposed to start sprinting or sprint jumping immediately, but i dont

Have you tried pressing W twice as an alternative method for sprinting in Minecraft?

Is this sort of input lag a problem you experience in other applications, or is it a problem only for Minecraft?

simplystrawberry commented 4 years ago

This is only a problem I’ve experienced in Minecraft and pressing W twice does work It seems to be something like when pressing two keys at the same time they delay for a second or so

A suggestion I have is to install OptiFine and mess around with the performance settings to see if that will fix the input lag when pressing Ctrl and W.

Here is the link: https://www.optifine.net/downloads

When you go to the download page, click on "Preview Versions" to download OptiFine for 1.16.2. From there, it should download a .jar file after looking at an ad, and then, you should click on the .jar file to install it. At that point, it should be installed on your launcher, so just open that up. Then, click on "Latest Release," and there should be an OptiFine release. Just join one of your worlds and try changing some of the performance settings to see if that helps.

The first thing I always do is install optifine and make the settings like I usually do, but I can mess around with them to see if there is anything I can change, I’ll get back when I’ve done testing

Changing the video performance settings did not work, everything works fine besides the delay, and my frame rates are usually at 60, so I'm still not sure exactly why this happens.

I have been having the same problem on 1.16/1.17, I thought it was because of my fabric mods, but its not. When i switched to 1.8.9 (to play PvP) the input delay wasn't there.

definetly very weird (also i just sent this after a year)
