I'm using cable to access network right now. Works fine for now but not a long-term option :(
I am facing the same issue. After applying updates and restarting my system, the Wi-Fi adapter stops showing up entirely. I reinstalled the OS, which temporarily fixed the problem, but the issue reappeared after the next update.
Next time you can spam space on boot and choose the old kernel in the list, also you can press d to set it to default. Then you dont have to reinstall the OS

I am on a dual boot so looks like I'm gonna have to stick to Windows for the network until the next update

I am using windows boot manager so this doesn't work for me :(
I had the same problem.
Changing the kernel and rebooting helped as a workaround for now.
file: /boot/efi/loader/loader.conf
change to: default Pop_OS-oldkernel
Can confirm this issue on the latest version.
Changing to old kernel is possible as a temporary solution but does not allow for setting power management settings like switching to Nvidia Graphics
Try downgrading linux-firmware:
sudo apt install linux-firmware=20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.5
Yeah, but this issue is funny. I haven't had Ethernet cable, so I had to find a Linux system with a working Wi-Fi to chroot
and do this. 😆
I think this package was not present in my cache...
Some further up in this thread mentioned that booting oldkern
made it start working again. If that's so, one could boot oldkern
, downgrade the package, then boot back into the current kernel.
When I try to downgrade, I'm getting this error. Any ideas? I'm on the internet via cable, so downloading shouldn't be an issue. Is there something else I'm supposed to do first? Thanks.
~ $ sudo apt install linux-firmware=20240610.git1d67e66d-0pop1+system76~1718095302~22.04~81a2216_amd64

Package linux-firmware is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
firmware-sof-signed amd64-microcode:i386 amd64-microcode
The update was pulled, and the repo will update shortly. Try normal updates in about 5-10 minutes or so.
Same issue here, for anyone also facing this issue boot into oldkern
to make wifi start working again. Hold space during boot and select oldkern.
The update has been pulled. I'll leave this issue open for a bit longer to make it easier for people to find if they need it.
Confirmed. Another sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
downgraded and fixed. Thanks.
We are working to identify why this affected certain wireless cards, as those cards appear to have been tested. The network technology used and even the computer configuration can be important. At one point in time, I recall the wifi firmware not loading if the system had exactly 64 gigabytes of RAM (not less or more). With this in mind, it would help if the following information could be provided so we can use it to replicate the issue and ensure it does not happen again:

For what is worth, it is a Serval WS.

It happened on my lemp10 as well. Details below.

@phrogpilot73 is that an AX210 or an AX201? If it's an AX210, did you upgrade the card yourself? I ask because the lemp10 shipped with the older AX200/AX201 series of wifi card.

I upgraded from the stock AX201 to an AX210. Who buys a system76 laptop to NOT tinker with it? :)
Fair enough lol. Just wanted to make sure that wasn't a typo. Thanks for the info!

Issue/Bug Description:
After startup, the wifi adapter keeps disconnecting and cannot make a stable connection. I can see the wifi icon shows and disappears on the top-right corner on my desktop. And also, the 'wifi' panel inside system setting shows and disappears countinuously.

Notes about log:
The content of log file keeps growing because of this issue. I cut a single loop from this log file by searching the keyword 'WiFi P2P', hope this is enough for solving the problem.
Other Notes:
I've been using PopOS as my main workstation for more than two years, this is the biggest issue I've ever faced. Thanks for all your genuine work and wish this issue could be fixed soon.
