Issue/Bug Description: Two issues really, not sure if they are related: After I log in, I only get the grey texture background, no desktop. (Intel graphics) After booting, all I get is a flickering underscore (Nvidia graphics)

In the first case, I am able to get a tty console, and running startx starts the desktop perfectly fine, yet for some reason, it won't start regularly.

I've been trying to resolve this for 2 days since its occurrence after the last updates. I have tried a lot (I know that this is a little vague) of solutions I found online, such as installing mdm, disabling gnome extensions, checking file permissions for Xauthority, yet nothing solves the issue. It's getting a little frustrating now.

I'm aware of the latest nvidia drivers creating some issues, and tried to install the previous version, but synaptic doesn't let me as it installs the newer versions as dependencies.

These are GDM occurances in the /var/log: https://gofile.io/?c=UwNVce

I'm happy to provide more logs/details. I'd prefer not to have to reinstall everything.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):

Installed KDE, selected SDDM as display manager. When logging in, I can select Plasma, Pop, or Pop (Wayland). Pop Wayland results in a black screen (thought that Pop doesn't use wayland anyways if I recall correctly), but 'Pop' does work, therefore I suspect it's a bug in GDM3.
