Issue/Bug Description: When pressing super key, dock opens with a night mode outline all the time. If I am using one monitor, it is infront of the dock. When using two monitors, sometimes the translucent yellow overlay is on the same monitor and other times on another monitor.

Steps to reproduce (if you know): Map super key to open dock. Disable night light. Press super key.

Expected behavior: The dock should show up normally without a yellow overlay.

Other Notes: It has been happening ever since I installed the distro a few days ago.

I want to make sure we're getting our terminology right so we know what the issue is. The dock is the strip on the left side of the screen in your second screenshot. The launcher is the box that pops up when pressing the Super key. Is this issue with the dock, or the launcher?

Is the "translucent yellow overlay" what you're referring to by "night mode outline"? That overlay is not related to night mode, it's trying to highlight the window that's selected in the launcher. Your screenshots show WhatsApp selected in the launcher. Is there a WhatsApp window visible on another workspace, or is it minimized/hidden to the system tray?

Ohh I see. I am sorry. I refer to the launcher when talking about this issue.

Yes the "translucent yellow overlay" is the "night mode outline". I mean there is a yellow thing over any app when I press the super key to access the launcher. I now understand that this yellow overlay is trying to highlight the window that's selected in the launcher. Thanks for the explanation.

The whatsapp app in the screenshot was not open on any monitor. The app was running, but in the background and it had an icon in the system tray. It is probably causing the bug that the yellow overlay is appearing out of nowhere. But also I got this app from the linuxmint repository meant for Cinnamon since there was no such similar package in the Pop Shop, so that probably explains it.

So my question now is, how to completely disable the yellow highlighting thing when using the launcher? It's pretty distracting and I personally don't like it.

I have the same issue as k2s09.

Fresh 21.10 install, dark mode, xps-13-9360 laptop.

MaliBYK commented 2 years ago

hey have you fixed the issue . Because I have the same problem

kavinsood commented 2 years ago

Sorry, I do not use Pop os anymore. I don't face this issue with Pop shell installed on Fedora so I have some suggestions for you @DaveFlowberries @MaliBYK

First update to the latest release and get the latest pop shell and gnome updates. Reboot and that might just fix it. If that does not work, disable the extension in the 'Extensions' app. Reboot and then install pop-shell again either by building it or installing a package.
