Android app is unable to fetch any data until you set all language options to "English" #878

Operating System Version:

Multiple devices (Android 11, Android 13, Android 14)

Popcorn Time Version:

0.3.6

Expected Behaviour:

Fetch data and show available movies without changing obscure settings

Actual Behaviour:

Says "Something went wrong" at the bottom of the app and the page which would normally show movies/shows says "No data found."

Only way to fix is by changing all language settings in Preferences to "English." This is not intuitive and makes the app appear as if it's broken at first glance.

Easy solution: Make the next version of the app have those values already set by default.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Install Popcorn Time on any Android device
  2. Open the app

Or just change the 'Content Language' option like it was meant to? That's not an obscure setting.. (nor is the 'App Language' one) Closing this.
