Hangs IE7/8 with usage of this js library #8

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. HTML 5 page full with contents, applied with css
2. LI with fixed width for <960px window size, and % width for more
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
As does it displayed in IE9, FF5. In IE7,8 it hangs browser, and only body
background load, nothing else.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest. Downloaded today.

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm using following other js library on page..
jQuery v 1.6.2
hoverintent.js
superfish.js
jquery.placeholder-enhanced.min.js

Only if lt ie9
html5shiv - html5.js
selectvizer
pie.htc

I remove css3 mediaqueries js, and it works fine.

Same here.

Locks up IE 7/8.

Using:
semantic grid system (semanticgs.org) (and therefore lesscss javascript
compiler)
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
   <script src="http://html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
<![endif]-->

Hopefully a resolution can be found, would be very useful.

I had this issue too, the cause was a web font hosted on Google - it seems this
script reloads all style sheets via ajax which caused IE to crash due to
incorrect handling of a same origin policy security exception being raised.

Hangs in IE7/8 for me too. Only seeing the background image, and nothing else,
although all content is accounted for in the source code. In source code, there
is an attribute "checkedByCssHelper='true'" attached to every HTML tag.

If you are having this hanging problem, double check all of your stylesheets
for any formatting issues. I know a missing curly brace will cause the hanging.

I had this issue. Turns out there indeed was a curly brace missing. Not for the
'main css' mind you, but for the @media query that surrounded my css.
Embarrassed.

If you use LESS css, do not go beyond 2 levels of {} It will lock IE too.

Between Martin and Gene this seems to be the answer.
Max 2 levels of { body { wrap }}
Do not forget to check for missing {}
Just one out of place or missing and IE 8,7,6 and 5.5 are broken.
Like Martin I found my missing @media screen and (min-width:...)
Simple mistakes that are simple to correct.
Thanks all for posting your findings, it saved me time.

For me the solution was only to include this on the page that I needed it, the
hang was happening on a page I didn't need to be responsive.

The page it happened on + the one it didn't, both used the same CSS file.

Back from the dead... There is a new version of the script. It has some CSS
parsing and processing improvements. If you're still using it, or would like to
try again, could you confirm that this issue is solved or not?

I still have the problem in IE8 with the newest version of the script. The only
way to get out of the hanging script is waiting for the "a script is taking
long to run - do you want to stop it" dialog, or restart the browser, so it's
almost impossible to profile where the problem happens. For now I've gone with
a custom JS solution with a window.resize handler instead.

I was having this crash in IE8 and I found the reason was in my css inside a
@media query i had

@-moz-document url-prefix() {
.page_title {

}
}

Removing that removed the crashing problem.

Side note: download link for css3-mediaqueries-js doesn't work
