I'm having the same issue and when I tried to uninstall the thumbnail previews were still there, any ideas?

Running the windows built-in disk cleanup should get rid of any old thumbnails.

Try saving the PSDs with "Maximize compatibility" enabled. Supporting files that doesn't have that checkbox checked is something that would be quite nice, but is a pretty massive undertaking.
