obviously nobody would ever insert spaces into --output-dir, and it definitely didn't cause this failure
if a job is submitted while the local repo has a branch checked out, the job will be submitted, then the 'is this branch on main' check will fail - this can probably fail in the user-side client instead of in the driver image
