There is a portfolio with several security accounts, each of which has a corresponding deposit (cash) account for settlements, but there is also one standalone deposit (cash) account (without corresponding security account) that is primarily used to deploy capital to the former deposit accounts. This standalone cash account is useful to track transactions of these capital deployments and return payouts, plus, have an overview of a total capital outflow into investments. As a result, this cash account has negative value most of the time, what obviously causes problems in "Reports" section if this account is included into calculation, and it is by default.
I see the following possible solutions to this problem:
There is already a feature to "Deactivate" account, which is already used in this setup. However, I noticed that only filters within "Taxonomy" section respect this setting and offer "Only active accounts/securities". So by adding the same filter criteria to "Reports" section, should allow one to solve not only the above problem, but also customize which accounts to exclude from calculation in general. (Yes, there is already an option to manually select all the securities/cash account pairs in the filter, but that's not practical in this case, while "Entire portfolio" and exclusion(s) are a better choice.)
In "Taxonomies" section, there is also a "Value not Zero" filter. So in similar spirit for "Reports" section, introduction of "Value not Negative" filter could make sense to automagically filter out accounts with negative value from calculation.
Maybe both of these filter extensions could be implemented to give full flexibility.
