Is this project still active? #183

I'm looking to compare this library as an option, but have noticed a decline in activity.

Is there any reason why and if so, has the maintainer discovered an alternative that might be worth noting?

Still interested in hearing an answer, I have found https://github.com/developit/mitt which seems to be under more active development. It's minimal and doesn't boast as many features as postal claims, but less likely to run afoul of changes in the JS and bundling landscape. Which IMO is most important.

I also want to use it but, I don't find any major activities since 2016. Is still in active state?

I've used this long ago and enjoyed it, still find the API nice...but I think the writing is on the wall.

So unless someone wants to offer picking up a fork and maintaining it...I think postal.js is unfortunately no longer maintained.

I do not have the bandwidth.

It would be nice to know @ifandelse what to expect from this project 😏

Edit: probably ifandelse/machina.js#146 gives us most of the answer already…

@atrauzzi @rahul-raut @jonbnewman @DidierLoiseau Surprise! I managed to escape the aliens that had abducted me...only to return to an inbox with more than 100k emails!

Alas....actually, I've been radio silent (and the reference from a few months ago to my comment on machina is relevant). I apologize for not replying. I went through a period where I had to make some hard choices when it came to priorities, and my OSS work took a back seat. I also felt postal had done what I needed it to do in the projects it's being used in (in fact, looking back I think I went a bit overboard in configuration....so v3 will likely be trimmed down quite a bit). I have updated lodash and published v2.0.6 (I could kick myself for missing the lodash notification).

The good news is, the OSS world keeps turning, even when we take time away. I checked out mitt (@atrauzzi mentioned it above). Jason Miller has done amazing work in Preact from what I remember, and mitt looks pretty slick. Absolutely use whatever library works best for your needs! It's always an honor when fellow devs take an interest in a project of mine....I'm not at a point yet where I can say with 100% confidence that I'll be highly active on this one - but I am picking the low-hanging fruit (updating deps, etc.), and am writing the code for v3 in my head (yes, I do that...I'm weird). In the meantime, I hope this notification finds each of you doing well. Just avoid the aliens and the inboxes with 100k emails.

almost two years since an update. I think it might be time to call this patient. Time of death...?
