1 year ago I've got issues with it too:
If I harness the gun first, sometimes that breaks it and makes it permanently float sometimes, even if I regrab the gun and let go it still floats in mid-air. Sometimes if I have it harnessed, it'll still technically be in the gun slot, but is floating in the world in the position I had let go of it from. If I walk away and grab it from the slot again it goes flying across the map back to my hand.
If I do an Iraqi reload and grab the fore before letting go of the bolt, then the next time I do an Iraqi reload, it floats in midair instead of following your head.
I don't know the exact reason why this happens and have yet to test this out without the mod, but. I've run into an issue multiple times were AK style weapons, like the AK74N, AS Val, etc., will start floating after trying to put them in a quickbelt slot (on the back), or just trying to drop them to the ground. I found no way to fix this issue in-game. Any combination of racking the slide over and over, reloading it, shooting it, switching firing modes, unbinding it from the quickbelt slot it was set to, trying different slots to hold it in. None of that fixed it. The weapon just completely loses physics and is stuck in the air until grabbed and wielded, going back to floating when let go of.
