EliteChrome does not appear in ChromaConnect #94

Summary

Simply put, EliteChroma does not appear in the Chroma Connect area of Synapse, and doesn't interact with Chroma lighting.

Environment

Elite Dangerous Fleet Carriers Update Patch 11 Razer Synapse 3.6.430.42101 EliteChroma 1.10.0 .NET 3.0.1 Windows 10

Hi! Please check the following:

  1. Have you run EliteChroma and Elite Dangerous at least once? Synapse will only show those applications that it sees running.
  2. Update Synapse to the latest version. On my setup, no applications appeared as well until I updated.
  3. Does EliteChroma run as expected, regardless of it appearing on Synapse or not?

I've run EliteChroma and Elite Dangerous together, and while the EliteChroma application launches, it has no effect on the lighting of peripherals.

Synapse is on the latest version, as of today.

Can you confirm that EliteChroma is still running after you start it (that is, that it hasn't crashed)? There should be an icon present in the task tray, and you should be able to right-click it and access its menu.

If it's not running, then it must have crashed. If so, please check the Windows Application Event Log. Look for error entries with .NET Runtime as the event source, and please report them back to me.

It is indeed still running in the task tray, and I can pull up the menu. EliteChroma doesn't work in either Elite Dangerous: Horizons or the base game for me. Is it possible that EliteChroma doesn't work if Elite is launched through Steam?

As far as I know, it shouldn't matter if it's launched through Steam.

EliteChroma will check if the game's main executable, EliteDangerous64.exe, is running. Ensure, though, that that executable is the one present in the Game installation folder in EliteChroma's settings. If you have more than 1 copy of the game installed (unlikely, but I know at least a couple of persons who do), perhaps you might be pointing to the wrong install folder.

EliteChroma also looks for changes made by the game in the Journal folder, and this is what actually make EliteChroma "tick". If you are pointing at the wrong place (again, unlikely), EliteChroma will not do anything.

Shouldn't matter. My Elite's launched through Steam and it works.

Just out of curiosity do you have another installation of Elite, maybe from the free epic store giveaway previously?

@proxythe1337 I believe @CommandoCat's question is directed at you (if not, please correct me).

A few weeks have passed, so please let me know if your issue persists or it has been resolved. In any case, I encourage you to download and install the latest release, as I made some changes that involve game folder detection since the beginning of this issue.

Sorry about the slow response, I've been super busy with work and haven't had time to play Elite. I don't have any other installs of Elite on the computer, but will try out the new release as soon as I get a chance a bit later this week.
