Check out #18 for a couple of fonts that work well (for me at least) with Windows.
I settled on one of the ones that work, but given half of them don't, I figured I'd post the issue so they can possibly get fixed :)
I have tried all the fonts included in this repo as well as those in #18, but none of them show the fancy symbols for me with PuTTY or Cygwin. For PuTTY, I have my Window > Translation > Remote character set = UTF-8. Is there some other setting that I'm missing? I am running PuTTY 0.62 and Windows 7 x64 SP1.
False alarm. The Arch Linux box I was SSHing into had the locale set wrong. I changed it to en_US.UTF-8 and all is golden now.
Having the same issues - none of the Windows fonts seem to have all of the symbols (at least when using putty).
I installed Powerline-shell on my Ubuntu VM, when I SSH into it with Putty, I get bad font rendering no matter what font I choose on Putty (unlike mgoffin).
How do I get at least a few of them to work like described by mgoffin?
@andradei I use https://github.com/belluzj/fantasque-sans these days. I believe it has the powerline symbols included.
I tried almost all fonts in repo, as well as fantasque sans. It seems only DejaVu Sans Mono Bold for Powerline works for all characters in " ±  ➦ ✘ ⚡ ⚙"
This still an issue using Windows10 with putty .73 and CentOS 8.
Some of the fonts don't seem to be patching properly. I'm using the latest powerline-fonts, and I even tried patching the original Droid Sans Mono with the latest fontpatcher. Here's what I currently see:
Anonymous Pro for Powerline:
Consolas:
DejaVu Sans Mono for Powerline
Droid Sans Mono Dotted for Powerline
Droid Sans Mono for Powerline
Droid Sans Mono Slashed for Powerline
Inconsolata for Powerline
Liberation Mono for Powerline
Meslo (none of these would actually load in windows for me)
Source Code Pro for Powerline
Ubuntu Mono for Powerline
