Maybe by having a radio button (default checked) next to each chageset ?

This would improve the usability (and performance ?) a lot in areas with many changesets.

This is definitely needed. Some areas are just too crowded and yes it hurts performance as well. I'm just not sure how to implement selecting UI-wise but I'll try to come up with something.
