[Feature Request] Callouts/Admonitions

I have started using Callouts in my notes and noticed that it is not supported (Or I'm doing something wrong).

I could frankenstein something together but I'd rather wait for a bit. (Unrelated, but could Dataview also be supported? I haven't seen any other alternatives do it so maybe its not)

Hey! Not sure what you mean by Callouts, do you mean blockquotes or those nicely rendered admonitions? Since this tool is a 1-click solution focused on the simple setup and ease of use rather than aesthetics, I am not sure if non-standard Markdown syntax support is necessary for everyone.

If you would like to have a pretty Markdown-generated website, you can refer to my other repository on how to set up Hugo. More advanced functionalities such as admonitions, shortcodes, STL preview etc. can be supported.

Alternatively, you can fork this repo / develop your website generation pipeline. obsidian-export is a great tool for resolving Wikilinks and removing Obsidian-specific frontmatters such that you have clean Markdown files to work with!

I would love to see callouts support too, yes. They're now officially integrated into Obsidian and I think they're pretty popular (the old Admonition is among the most downloaded community plugins).

I would like to love callouts support as well (I'm in the process of converting my Admonitions to the new native Callouts format).

But I think @ppeetteerrs has been clear that his purpose is simplicity, and his statement "I am not sure if non-standard Markdown syntax support is necessary for everyone" means it is unlikely he'll accommodate:

• callouts
• Obsidian comments ("%%")
• hiding block references (^reference)
• etc

I'm just a novice (and non-coder) but I'm wondering if we could offer some commits that might accomplish these Obsidian-Markdown goals (since the project's name is, after all, "Obsidian-Zola")? As for supporting Dataview -- that's a huge ask given that the "output" of dataview is rendered as opposed to written as plaintext in your notes.

Thanks for all the comments! I am quite busy recently but would definitely look into this feature around mid May. In the meantime if anyone has already implemented it, a pull request to the dev branch would be welcomed! I already the admonition CSS ready from my Hugo repo so it shouldn't take too long 😁

Hey all, apologies for the lack of update! I just graduated and started work so I am a bit busy. But I am working on a partial rewrite of obsidian-zola which would support callouts and many more features! Stay tuned! 👍🏻
