How to load code on ESP8266 #1

I need to automate my applianes using OPENHAB2.I have installed Openhab2 on my raspberry pi and now my problem is how to control relays according to the user input using ESP8266.Can I control without Esp8266 ?I mean only with relay board connecting inputs to GPIO Pins of Raspberry pi? If not please provide me circuit diagram for connection
